issues can cause other drudgery, distress and dissatisfaction to
surface. We expect that; we even anticipate it. To answer some
of the matters that are frequently raised by clients
we have put together a package of support services. We do not
aim to be a 'one-stop shop', but we are keen to extend our
clients' range of options as widely as possible. Accordingly, we
offer the following bolt-on services in conjunction with other
established businesses:
Book-keeping
Keeping score means knowing where you are and what room you have
for manoeuvre. A well-kept set of books are the necessary
foundation for any business.
Facilitation
When the meeting is crucial and the stakes
are high it is important that the key process of managing the
interactions in the best interests of all parties is handled
effectively. It is rare that one of the parties involved is able to do
this well and with the confidence of everyone involved. Calling
for outside facilitation will keep the meeting on track, the
outcome in mind and parties talking.
Human Relations
The rules, regulations, recommended
guidelines and legal precedents in this area have grown
exponentially over the past few decades. That pace shows few
signs of slackening. This is an area of business where staying
current is a challenge and getting it wrong is a potential
disaster. These days just doing the right thing is no longer
enough and timely advice can almost 'save you from yourself'.
Monthly Accounts
Taking the raw data from the debits and
credits of simple book-keeping and turning it into a set of
figures that will help you more fully understand the business
can reveal underlying factors than are not immediately evident
otherwise. Turning a collection of facts into a coherent story
takes skill. Accounts are no different.
Needs Analysis
You have an uneasy feeling that things
aren't right, but there's nothing that you can put your finger
on. Alternatively, you know your people lack some key skills,
but not exactly who, what or how much. A thorough Needs Analysis
examines the shortfalls in depth and documents the steps
needed to remedy the situation - a process that those in the
business could do, if only they were not so busy and not so
close to the problem.
Performance Review
More commonly known as 'getting behind the
numbers'. Monthly accounts can tell you a lot, but they are
essentially a lesson in history. They deal with the past, but
you live in the present and need to survive in the future. What
does it look like out there and are you equipped to meet
tomorrow? Regular performance reviews offer you the chance to
pause, re-assess the situation and then move with greater
certainty to meet the challenges ahead.
Presentation
Having a good case is certainty a sound
starting-point, but communicating poorly guarantees you will not
get the response you expect or deserve. We can help you and your
staff learn what works and how to employ it to maximum effect,
either person-to-person or to an assembled audience, both
formally and informally. The final gap to be bridged is between
you and your audience; construct it with care.
Project Management
In small companies, just covering the
day-to-day business often requires both management and workers
to be multi-skilled. When a big new initiative is taken it
usually gets squeezed in to whatever extra time can be made
available. Inevitably this raises the pressure and something and
somebody suffers somewhere. Handing a project to skilled
management can result in faster completion times, an undisturbed
flow of routine affairs and consequently a lower total cost,
including hidden costs, than would otherwise be the case.
Psychometrics
Recruitment is expensive and the more senior
the role, the more expensive it becomes - up to a year's salary
for the post involved. To add to the cost interviewing, even by
a trained and experienced interviewer, has been found to be a
poor predictor of job performance and social fit; particularly
critical elements in a small company environment. Psychometric
testing reduces the uncertainty and the chances of making a poor
judgement.
Sales Training
Filling the sales funnel is seen as a major determinant of unit
volume and it's where so much effort goes. However, every sales
executive knows that for every one hundred prospective clients
she sees, only a fraction will become paying customers. It
follows that there is more to be gained, at a lower cost, in
increasing the conversion of high-probability prospects than in
adding more prospects with a lower conversion factor. How
